The Mercat no sedentari dels Dissabtes (Saturday open-air market) of Vilafranca del Penedès is held every Saturday in the town centre, on the Plaça de la Vila. Food stalls open from 08:00 to 14:00 and all other stalls from 09:00 to 14:00. Its origins go back to the founding of Vilafranca, almost a thousand years ago, and today it welcomes more than 20,000 visitors a day. You will find fresh fruit and vegetables, charcuterie and salted fish, as well as clothing, footwear and household goods; there are no meat stalls. Look out for the "Productes de la terra" (local produce) stalls, marked by their screen-printed tablecloths.
